What is Reiki?
Reiki is a complementary therapy. It is a powerful, yet gentle, form of natural healing, which involves the body's natural ability to heal itself.
The energy goes to where illnesses have their origin and works wherever it is most needed, releasing blocked energies, cleansing the body of toxins and working to create a state of balance.
Reiki is a safe, natural and holistic way of treating many acute and chronic conditions, and helps to bring about spiritual, mental, emotional and physical well-being. It is non-invasive and does not involve any manipulation. It is also a great tonic, so if you are in good health Reiki will help you stay that way.
A Reiki treatment will help to rebalance mind, body and soul making you feel calmer and filling you with a sense of peace and serenity.

The History of Reiki
Reiki is a system of healing founded in Japan at the end of the 19th century. The word is derived from the Japanese rei ('universal') and ki ('life energy') and practitioners are 'attuned' to act as channels for a natural healing energy ('reiki') that is drawn to areas of imbalance in themselves and in others.
Dr Mikao Usui 'developed' or 'discovered' Reiki from his study of ancient Buddhist texts, travel, research and meditation and the system was introduced to the US in the 1970s by Hawayo Takata, a Japanese woman living in Hawaii, who learnt it from one of Usui's pupils, Dr Chujiro Hayashi. The current Grand Master is Phyllis Furomoto who is Mrs Takata's grand-daughter.
Reiki is now practiced throughout the Western world where its popularity is growing fast.
