Reiki for Horses

Most horses, like all other animals, are very receptive to Reiki as they have no preconceptions about what it may or may not do - i.e. no sceptism.

The Reiki energy promotes faster healing of physical symptoms and conditions and on deeper levels provides relief from stress and anxiety and memory of fear.

Just as with humans, horses respond to Reiki at different rates. Four weekly sessions should be enough for most horses, but occasionally if the client is very distressed and has deep seated trauma (which may not be noticeable to the owner) it may take several gentle sessions before they accept the healing energy and then begin to make progress. In this event eight initial sessions would be more appropriate.

Reiki can help all horses, from companions and leisure horses to competition horses and racehorses. The latter two both pre and post competition or racing when stress levels can be heightened.

Some of the specific ways Reiki can be beneficial to horses are:-

  • Builds confidence - particularly useful for nervous horses and young horses starting training.
  • Reduces and relieves stress - again useful for horses coming into training and just before and just after racing/competition and moving home.
  • Recovery from shock/trauma -reduces the level of adrenaline in the system after a frightening event.
  • Speeds up the healing and recovery process from physical injury or illness and can be an extremely beneficial element of post-operative care.

Please contact us to discuss your horse(s) and we will be happy to advise on an appropriate treatment programme. It is favourable to treat horses in their home environments and for this reason we are happy to travel to your stables.

Reiki for dogs, cats and other domestic animals

Reiki is a wonderful healing tool for every living thing, and most animals will respond to it in a very trusting way. It seems that animals tend to be more intuitive and in tune with their own health needs than we humans, and this, in turn, allows them to be very open and receptive to Reiki. Sometimes a Reiki practitioner will draw animals to him/her because animals seem to sense that the energy being channelled by the practitioner can help them.

Reiki can heal injuries and surgical cuts such as spaying and neutering more quickly, and can reduce or remove aches and pains in injured or aging animals. It can also assist animals adjusting to new homes etc. Reiki can also be used for animals when they are feeling anxious or distressed by helping them to feel more calm and at ease.

After a treatment, the animal may have what is called a healing crisis. As the animal's vibration goes up, toxins that have been stored in the body will be released into the blood stream to be filtered by the liver and kidneys and removed from the system. When this happens, the animal may appear to get worse before it gets better but this is all completely natural and will dissipate.

Again, as with humans, it can take just one Reiki treatment to make your animal feel better and see an improvement - or it could take regular sessions for a few weeks or months as each animal is unique.
